Few performing groups present the full spectrum of holiday revelry better than the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus. Backed by a brilliant brass quintet, the Chorus will dash from glorious classical fare to swing to big band…plus a few new twists on holiday classics. You’re invited to sing along to favorites and delight in the breathtaking sound of 250 men’s voices performing everything from “Silver Bells” to “Hark the Herald Angels Sing,” as well as a cutting-edge version of “Silent Night.”

From Bel Canto heroines to the modern leading ladies, acclaimed soprano Marnie Breckenridge has sung with San Francisco Opera, English National Opera, Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Carnegie Hall, Ravinia Festival, Bard Music Festival, Prague State Opera, The Metropolitan Opera Guild, Teatro Sao Paulo, Opera Parallèlè, San Francisco Symphony and many other US and European houses. A favored interpreter of living composers’ music, her in-depth portrayals and excellent musicianship have established her as a go-to performer of critically acclaimed new works with her “lovely soprano” voice (The New York Times), “lyrical poignancy and dramatic power” (The Chicago Tribune).

San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus will also be spreading holiday cheer to audiences at two other venues throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. On Sunday, December 9, 2018 at 7 p.m., the Chorus will perform at Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse in Berkeley. Tickets are on-sale now at www.thefreight.org. For 40 years, the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus has courageously served as the international standard bearer for a powerful and accomplished mix of high-caliber performance, human rights, community activism, empowerment and inclusiveness, establishing it as an icon among LGBT organizations. Founded in 1978, it was the first organization of its kind and is credited with starting the LGBT choral movement, galvanizing and changing the course of LGBT history.
