Become a member of the SFGMC family

Make a donation to the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus (SFGMC) today to help us inspire tens of thousands of people at home and around the world. Your donation of $150 (or $10 or more per month) enrolls you in our Conductor’s Society membership program. Find member benefits here.

We are filled with gratitude and awe at how far we’ve come with your help. It was just over 44 years ago that SFGMC gave its first performance on the steps of City Hall with a group of 100 men at a candlelight vigil for Supervisor Harvey Milk and Mayor George Moscone, on the very day they were assassinated. Since then you have embraced us as part of your community, traveled with us as we confronted intolerance through song, and enabled us to grow to a chorus 250-singers strong.

As a donor, you know that ticket sales alone don’t cover the cost of our work. It’s because of donors like you that we are able to deepen our impact in the Bay Area and beyond.

NEW PROGRAMS, NEW AUDIENCES

With one in four youth in California reporting being physically harassed — even in the progressive Bay Area — SFGMC launched a school outreach program aimed at building more empathy among school communities and empowering LGBTQ youth to live their authentic lives.

Reaching Youth Through Music (RHYTHM) is an immersive four-part workshop series that brings SFGMC into elementary, middle and high schools across the Bay Area.

• After experiencing RHYTHM, 62% of students said that they are more likely to speak up if they see a peer being bullied.

• In 2020-2021, 4,000 students were impacted. Your gift will help us reach hundreds more students this year.

"Thank you. This was the best day of my life." – student in RHYTHM program

MAKING A DIFFERENCE

Gay Chorus Deep South (2019) is a new documentary that chronicles the power of SFGMC’s 2017 Lavender Pen Tour. To challenge intolerance and confront a resurgence of faith-based anti-LGBTQ laws, 200 Chorus members and the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir traveled to Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina and North Carolina to share music that enriched the soul and inspired activism.

“Our mission is greater than ourselves.” – Chorus Member, Gay Chorus Deep South
