Join us for the is one-in-a-lifetime celebration of our past, present and future. The Chorus will perform “When We No Longer Touch.” Composed in 1991. This work is the first requiem dedicated to those lost to AIDS.

National AIDS Memorial Grove Monument Ceremony

Saturday, October 27, 2018 - 11:00 AM

Golden Gate Park

The festivities continue onsite at our new Artists Portal at the National AIDS Memorial Grove where we’re building a permanent memorial to the almost 300 singers the Chorus has lost to the AIDS pandemic. The stunning installation’s focal point will be an eight-foot-tall Emperor Chime to be rung by visitors.

This monument will provide the extended SFGMC family and sister arts organizations from around the world with a unique place to reflect and remember. All are invited to the ceremony in San Francisco’s beloved Golden Gate Park. The dedication of the completed installation will take place on December 1, World AIDS Day.

Nourse Theater, 275 Hayes Street, San Francisco

Few performing groups present the full spectrum of holiday revelry better than the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus.

We welcome guest star coloratura soprano Marnie Breckenridge (San Francisco Opera, English National Opera, Los Angeles Opera), who’ll bring her own sass and class to our stage.

In collaboration with a brilliant brass quintet, we’ll dash from glorious classical fare to swing to big band so Chorus members can put on their dancing shoes. Plus, we add a few new twists on holiday classics.

Sing along with your favorites and delight in the breathtaking sound of men’s voices performing everything from “Silver Bells” to “Santa Baby,” and our audience favorite rendition of “Silent Night.” Together, we’ll bring the holiday spirit to life.

Nourse Theater, 275 Hayes Street, San Francisco

San Francisco’s Compton Cafeteria and Stonewall Inn riots in New York City's Greenwich Village marked the beginning of a movement.

Our shared history has been changed by a group that has stood tall in the face of enormous odds and adversity: drag queens! We’ll honor San Francisco’s own Imperial Court and Grand Ducal Council.

Guest star Tony award-winner Billy Porter ("Pose," Kinky Boots, Smokey Joe’s Cafe) brings his powerhouse vocals to perform selections from Kinky Boots and more.

And, we’ll celebrate San Francisco’s biggest androgynous star: Sylvester. The grand finale is a rousing premiere work commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising. You will leave feeling Mighty Real!

It's an exciting new season and we hope you’ll be a part of the entire season. You won’t want to miss a single moment of new and traditional music, dynamic dance moves or a drag queen diva!
