Reverand Miguel Bustos
The Venerable Rev. Miguel Bustos is a passionate advocate for social justice and has led initiatives on racial justice, LGBTQIA2S+ advocacy, and reconciliation efforts throughout his life. He serves as Archdeacon for the Episcopal Diocese of California and director of the School for Deacons. In addition, as manager for racial justice and reconciliation for the Episcopal Church, he directs a wide range of racial justice and reconciliation initiatives and programs throughout the United States, including the Truth Telling and Reparations Summit, Sacred Ground, and the Episcopal Church's Concert for the Human Family series.
With a rich background in philanthropy, corporate, and public service, he previously served as a policy adviser for President Clinton and Vice President Gore in the White House, was Director of the Americas for the Levi Strauss Foundation, Senior Vice President for Government and Community Relations at Wells Fargo, Deputy District Director for Congresswoman Barbara Lee, and served as Director of the Center for Social Justice at GLIDE Memorial.
He holds two advanced degrees in business administration (M.B.A.) and international peace and conflict resolution (M.A.). And he serves on multiple national and global boards promoting human rights and public health.
Rev. Bustos and his husband, Alex, are native San Franciscans and live in Miguel’s childhood home in the Mission District.
