KATIE BURKE
Katie (she/her) reconnected with the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus ("SFGMC") in 2022 through friendships with singing members Anthony Levintow and Manny Apolonio, after years of pre-pandemic attendance at the Holiday Spectacular. Since rediscovering the Chorus, Katie has been in the audience at every concert, regularly attended Chan National Queer Arts Center events, and sponsored sing-alongs and Crescendo, the Chorus' annual gala.
Katie owns Burke Law, a San Francisco family law firm. For more than two decades, she has litigated and mediated divorce and child custody matters and drafted premarital, post-marital, and cohabitation agreements. She serves on the board of CouncilONE, a Bay Area professional networking group. Katie earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Fairfield University in Connecticut, her Master of Counseling degree from Arizona State University, and her law degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law.
Outside the office, Katie is a Barry's fanatic, a BroadwaySF subscriber, a creative nonfiction writer, and, of course, an SFGMC Superfan.
Why I joined the Board:
The Chorus' lived values of inclusivity and social justice are meaningful to me. In this way, the Chorus reminds me of my decade in the aughts singing with the Glide Ensemble, another singing group that combines fun and purpose. I especially appreciate SFGMC's Reaching Youth Through Music ("RHYTHM") program, through which SFGMC brings music into Bay Area middle and high schools to share messages of love, inclusivity, and strength.
