Gary Ryan joined the board of the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus (SFGMC) in July 2025 seeking a deeper connection to the LGBTQIA+ community and a space where music, advocacy, and authenticity intersect. Originally from Ireland and now proud to call San Francisco home, Gary found in SFGMC a vibrant community that reflects his values of inclusion, visibility, and joy.

Professionally, Gary serves as Senior Director of R&D Portfolio Strategy & Analytics at Gilead Sciences, where he partners with teams advancing innovative therapies for HIV treatment, prevention, and cure. His work is rooted in a commitment to improving lives and driving meaningful impact in global health. Beyond his day-to-day role, Gary is the Global Chair of Pride Alliance, Gilead’s LGBTQIA+ employee resource group. In this capacity, he champions a culture of belonging, helping to foster a safe and inclusive environment where employees can thrive as their authentic selves.
