Babes in Joyland delivers exactly what you expect from SFGMC at the holidays: gorgeous music, jubilant production pieces and heartwarming moments. You’ll hear plenty of classic holiday favorites, alongside some new works that are sure to warm your heart and get you in the festive mood. Over-the-top production numbers will be mixed with stunning, tender moments – all done up with SFGMC’s trademark flair. Additionally, the Chorus is joined by the dazzling soprano Marnie Breckenridge for these performances.

“Once again, we have spent an entire year dreaming up the most fabulous holiday celebration imaginable,” writes Seelig. “This year it is going to be resplendent in your favorite holiday color - pink! You heard it – we’re turning the holidays pink. You'll have to see it to believe it. You'll absolutely sparkle, tingle, and jingle all the way.”

“Among the spectacular arrangements in this year's concert are the beloved ‘O Come All Ye Faithful,’ ‘Carol of the Bells,’ ‘I Saw Three Ships Come Sailing In,’ and a stunning a cappella ‘Do You Hear What I Hear?’” adds Seelig. “We will also present several world premieres composed by Steve Huffines. Those include 'The Light of Hanukkah" on a beautiful text by SFGMC singer and writer Elliot Simon, and ‘In The Eyes of a Child.’”

Nearly 30 years ago, the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus gathered for the first time on Christmas Eve in 1990 at the Castro Theatre to bring the holidays home to those who had none. Thus began the annual tradition of joining together every Christmas Eve at the Castro Theatre for this night of joyous music and heartwarming festivities.

This holiday season will mark SFGMC’s 27th Annual “Home for the Holidays” at the Castro Theatre (429 Castro Street, San Francisco) on Christmas Eve. Performances are Saturday, Dec. 24, 2016, at 5 p.m., 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Opera soprano Melody Moore will be the Chorus’ special guest artist for Home for the Holidays. Tickets range from $25-40 and are available now on www.SFGMC.org or by calling City Box Office at (415) 392-4400.

The Chorus will be taking its holiday show to four other locations around the Bay Area this season. On Sunday, November 27, 2016, SFGMC celebrates the 26th edition of “Home for the Holidays” in Santa Rosa, presented with longtime partner Face 2 Face Sonoma County AIDS Network, at 3 p.m. at Luther Burbank Center for the Arts (50 Mark West Springs Road, Santa Rosa). A portion of the proceeds from the performance will be donated directly to Face 2 Face.

On Saturday, December 3, 2016, members of SFGMC return to Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek, CA with two shows at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. (1601 Civic Drive, Walnut Creek). The next day, Sunday, December 4, 2016, SFGMC travels to Livermore for the very first time to perform at the Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center’s Bankhead Theater at 3 p.m. (2400 First Street, Livermore). Lastly, on Sunday, December 18, 2016, all four of SFGMC’s vocal ensembles (The Lollipop Guild, Vocal Minority, SWAG and HomoPhonics) will perform at 3 p.m. at Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse (2020 Addison Street, Berkeley).
