The Chan National Queer Arts Center is thrilled to announce our upcoming Creators’ Showcase! We invite performing artists of all disciplines to join us in a celebration of diversity, creativity, and the power of the arts. Whether you are a singer, dancer, musician, poet, or performance artist, we welcome you to share your unique talent and story.
Each artist selected will receive a $200 honorarium
Important - we are only seeking artists who are presenting their own creation, or engaging others to perform your original work. At this time, we cannot accept any performances of work not created by the submitting artist.

Submission Guidelines
1. ELIGIBILITY
This showcase is open to artists aged 18+, all backgrounds and identities. We particularly encourage submissions from LGBTQ+ artists and allies who share our commitment to diversity and inclusion.
2. PERFORMANCE CATEGORIES
We are seeking a variety of acts (no longer than 5 minutes) including, but not limited to, singing, dancing, instrumental performances, spoken word, and theatrical pieces. Solo and group acts are both welcome.
3. SUBMISSION PROCESS
Video Submission
Please submit a video of your performance (not exceeding 5 minutes). The video should be a clear representation of the act you wish to perform at the showcase. Your video submission can be captured using a mobile phone. We are not seeking professional produced videos. But we do encourage you to present yourself and your work in the best possible format.
Artist Statement
Include a brief statement (500 words max) about yourself and your performance. Share your artistic journey, the inspiration behind your piece, and how your work aligns with the values of The Chan National Queer Arts Center.
4. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
Outline any specific technical needs for your performance (e.g., sound equipment, lighting, space requirements).
5. SELECTION CRITERIA
Submissions will be evaluated based on originality, artistic quality, relevance to The Chan’s role in the community, and technical feasibility.
6. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS
April 30, 2024. Late submissions will not be considered.
7. NOTIFICAITON
Selected artists will be notified by May 14, 2024.
8. PERFORMANCE DATE
The showcase is scheduled for June 24, 2024, at The Chan National Queer Arts Center - 170 Valencia Street - San Francisco, CA 94103. Selected artists must be available to perform on this date.
