San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus To Perform For United States Navy’s Naming Ceremony Honoring Harvey Milk

The San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus (SFGMC) and Dr. Timothy Seelig, SFGMC Artistic Director, announced today that the Chorus will perform the National Anthem at the celebrated USNS Harvey Milk Naming Ceremony on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at 2:00PM, held by the United States Navy. The event will take place on Treasure Island at the Great Lawn in San Francisco, CA. Last week, USNI News reported that the Navy declared their intention to name a fleet oiler for Supervisor Harvey Milk, the first openly gay elected official in California.

The San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus (SFGMC) announced today that they have appointed Christopher Verdugo as Executive Director. Mr. Verdugo joins SFGMC in anticipation of the Chorus’ 39th Season, and together with Artistic Director Dr. Timothy Seelig, will lead the organization to new levels of growth, financial sustainability and artistic excellence. Verdugo brings over 15 years of experience leading non-profit organizations, and comes to SFGMC after five successful years as Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles (GMCLA)

San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus Issues Statement of Solidarity Following Orlando Shooting

SAN FRANCISCO (June 14, 2016) – Today, San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus (SFGMC) issued a statement of solidarity for those affected by this past weekend’s mass shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida. Read the statement below.

Additionally, the Chorus offered a video of solidarity, filmed during last night’s SFGMC rehearsal. The Chorus sang “Dedication,” with music by Richard Burchard and text by Mark Twain (based on a poem by Robert Richardson) as an act of support for the victims of the tragedy, as well as for all who have banded together to promote peace, love, healing and pride following the events this past weekend.

Today, in celebration of San Francisco Pride, San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus (SFGMC) andDr. Timothy Seelig, Artistic Director, announced the program for the final concert of the 2015/2016 season – Heartthrobs: Biggest Boy Band Ever on June 24 – 25 at Nourse Theater (275 Hayes Street, San Francisco). Guest artists Well-Strung, the singing string quartet, join the Chorus for Heartthrobs. Today, San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus (SFGMC) and the SFGMC Divas announced its 5th Annual Dragathon event on Saturday, May 14, 2016 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at The Café (2369 Market St., San Francisco), raising much-needed funds for the SFGMC Financial Assistance Network (FAN). Admission is free. “Five years ago, the idea of Dragathon was born at a Chorus member’s birthday party,” says SFGMC Divas leader, Richie Perez.

Today, San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus (SFGMC) and Dr. Timothy Seelig, Artistic Director, announced its spring fundraising event at the home of Ann & Gordon Getty in San Francisco on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., featuring two-time Tony Award winner Patti LuPone, and honoring composer Jake Heggie with a Champion Award.

The evening is presented by the Bob Ross Foundation, Terrence Chan and Edward Sell and Putnam Automotive Group, and includes a cocktail reception, followed by an intimate salon performance by Broadway superstar Patti LuPone and a select ensemble of SFGMC singers.
